$11,000 Reward Offered To Help Find Those Responsible For Horrific Animal Abuse Against Two Dogs

\"\"/
Up to $11,000 in rewards is now being offered for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the heinous acts of violence against two defenseless dogs in the Duncan area of Mercer County, Kentucky.
The Humane Society of the United States and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) are both offering $5,000 towards the reward.
On Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint that someone in the Duncan community, close to the intersection of Bohon and Grapevine Roads in Mercer County, tied the legs of two dogs, duct-taped their muzzles shut and beat them on their heads, causing severe injuries.
Violence against animals is a crime that affects entire communities. The connection between animal cruelty and human violence is well documented. Studies show a correlation between animal cruelty and crimes ranging from narcotics and firearm violations to battery and sexual assault. Securing the serious attention and engagement of law enforcement officials, prosecutors and residents in cases involving allegations of cruelty to animals is an essential step in protecting the whole community.
“It takes a truly callous person to abuse dogs in this way,” said Kathryn Callahan, Kentucky state director for the Humane Society of the United States in a statement. “We hope that this reward will help bring forward anyone with information about this horrible crime.”
