8 WAYS TO MAKE EASTER SPECIAL DURING DIFFICULT TIMES

Before we jump into our favorite Easter crafts for kids, I wanted to take a moment to share some tips and ideas to make Easter extra special for you and your little ones this year. Whether you’ve just moved to a new neighborhood, you’re going through a separation or divorce, you’re navigating a serious sickness, or you’re in the midst of the 2020 pandemic and feel the need to go above and beyond this Easter, these ideas will help.

1. EXCHANGE LETTERS WITH THE EASTER BUNNY
If your little ones still write a letter to Santa each year, why not do the same thing with the Easter Bunny? Writing is a great way for kids to work through their emotions, and your child can use this as an opportunity to express some of the things they may be feeling if they’re currently going through a difficult time. If your child is too young to write, consider having him or her create a piece of artwork instead, and be sure the Easter Bunny leaves a little note in return for an extra surprise on Easter morning.

2. PUT CARROTS AND WATER OUT BEFORE BED
Again, if you have a tradition of putting out cookies and milk for Santa, you can do this with rabbit-friendly food for the Easter Bunny as well.

3. MAKE BUNNY FOOTPRINTS
A friend of mine gave me this idea when my daughter was younger, and I think it’s a hoot. All you need to do is draw a set of over-sized rabbit feet on a piece of paper, cut them out, place them on the floor, and sprinkle flour or talcum powder around the edges. If you strategically place these all over the house, your child will be even more convinced the Easter bunny was there!

4. LEAVE JELLY BEANS IN THE TOILET!
I mean really, what’s more exciting than finding out the Easter bunny pooped in your potty?!

5. ORGANIZE AN EASTER EGG SCAVENGER HUNT
Whether you’re stuck inside, or you have access to a big backyard, organizing an Easter scavenger hunt is a great way to add excitement to your Easter celebration. You can make this as easy or difficult as you want, and Pinterest is full of great ideas to inspire you!

6. MAKE EASTER BUNNY PANCAKES!
Once the Easter eggs have been collected (and eaten!), why not whip up a batch of bunny-shaped pancakes? Not handy in the kitchen? All you need is your favorite pancake mix and a set of Easter cookie cutters.

7. ORGANIZE A FAMILY EASTER-THEMED MOVIE NIGHT
If you’re not able to get together with extended family this year, why not spread out a big blanket, make a picnic-style Easter meal, and watch your favorite Easter movies together?

8. DO EASTER CRAFTS
